This year’s policy Teaching Institute, held in conjunction with Policy Conference 2.0, focused on political social work. The day began with an inspiring keynote presentation by Marian Harris entitled “Oppression & Race: Teachable Moments Now or Never.” It was followed by intensive, half-day sessions that provided ideas for hands-on activities aimed at making policy meaningful, teaching about the policy process, engaging students in electoral politics, and responding to diverse political views in the classroom. Many thanks to our twelve outstanding instructors, to our lightning round participants who shared their teaching strategies, and to the planning committee: Jill Manit (chair), Clark Peters, Suzanne Pritzker, and Heather Kanenberg.
